Named ‘Nakshatra Sabha,’ this campaign promises an extraordinary journey into the cosmos. From early June at George Everest, Mussoorie, until mid-2025, a series of enchanting events will take place across Uttarakhand. These events will include stargazing sessions, special solar observations, astrophotography contests, and even camping under the stars.
But it’s not just about stargazing; Nakshatra Sabha aims to create a whole experience. There will be seminars and webinars with expert insights, making it an immersive learning opportunity for astronomy enthusiasts and adventurers alike.
What’s more, the campaign is not just about tourism; it’s about local empowerment and environmental conservation. It includes training programs for locals to boost the economy and advocates for preserving dark skies, ensuring that Uttarakhand remains a pristine destination for years to come.

According to the Secretary of Tourism, the goal is to make Uttarakhand the go-to destination for astronomy-focused travel. The state’s natural beauty, coupled with its hospitality sector and accessibility, makes it an ideal spot for such an experience.
Ramashish Ray, the founder of Starscapes, shared his excitement, mentioning their long-standing collaboration with Uttarakhand Tourism. He emphasized that Nakshatra Sabha is the culmination of their efforts to showcase Uttarakhand as an astro tourism hub while building strong local communities interested in astronomy.
Overall, Nakshatra Sabha isn’t just about looking at the stars; it’s about fostering connections, learning, and preserving the natural beauty of Uttarakhand.
